Founded in 1985, Comtran has a long history in the wire and cable industry. The company quickly grew to be one of the primary manufacturers of data and communication cable in the Northeast. In 2001, Comtran became a member company of The Marmon Group, which is based in Chicago, IL. The Marmon Group is an international association of more than 130 business units that operate independently within diverse business sectors. In March 2008, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. acquired majority interest in the Marmon Group of companies.
As a member of these two prestigious entities, Comtran Cable has the management and financial strength needed to sustain its growth and leadership position in the marketplace. In recent years, Comtran Cable’s products have been installed in large-scale industrial projects throughout North America and Asia.
The History of Our Facilities
Originally located in Whitinsville, MA, Comtran Cable relocated to a modern 185,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Attleboro, Massachusetts in 2010. In addition to manufacturing, this location serves as headquarters including finance and administration, sales and marketing, engineering, and research and development.
Due to the changing demands of the markets we serve, Comtran Cable has diverse manufacturing capabilities that are always innovating and expanding. Comtran offers a growing line of high performance data and communication cable designed for harsh environments. In addition, we produce and stock a broad line of standard datacom, premise telephone, and low voltage cable products.
We house a large inventory in our 40,000 square foot warehouse and distribution center. Comtran maintains ample product in-stock, allowing us to typically ship in less than 24 hours. Timely shipment and delivery have also been key elements in our steady growth over the past 30 years.
Products that are not in stock, including custom designs for OEM’s, are a growing part of our business. Here again, short lead-times and a strong commitment to on-time delivery have always been our priority.
